He may have called time on his stellar playing career a few months ago, but it seems that Steven Gerrard is still partial to a game when the opportunity presents itself.
Academy coach Gerrard displayed an array of the attributes that marked him out as a Liverpool great during a match with some of the club's promising youngsters at Kirkby earlier this week.
After handing out some advice and playing his part in the coaching of the early part of the session, Gerrard joined in with a competitve short-sided game - and showed that his shooting and passing skills remain intact.
