LFC’s Red Neighbours team got their hands dirty at Pinehurst Community Green in Anfield this Thursday when they spent the afternoon weeding, sowing and singing with the local community.

The Red Neighbours team, along with LFC staff volunteers, spent the afternoon in the community allotment before meeting with local residents in the nearby Poppy Centre, a community hub which aims to reduce social isolation for elderly people – a key focus for the Red Neighbours initiative.

The community allotment – based at Age Concern’s Poppy Centre – grows fresh produce to tackle food poverty within the L4, L5 and L6 areas.

Residents swapped gardening tips with LFC staff over a cup of tea, before taking part in a lively group sing-a-long. The European Cup was present for photo opportunities, and LFC gifts, including official kit and signed player photographs, were given out by the team.
