Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac, reports claim.

Jürgen Klopp is expected to splash the cash in January in order to bolster the Reds' hopes of winning the Premier League title.

And German newspaper Bild claim that the Liverpool boss has put Kolasinac on his Christmas wish list.

Kolasinac will be available for a bargain price with the 23-year-old's contract due to expire in the summer.

The Bosnia international has impressed this season despite Schalke languishing in eighth in the Bundesliga table.

However, Manchester City are also said to be keen on signing him.

Pep Guardiola's current left-backs Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov are both entering the twilight phases of their careers.

As well as Kolasinac, both sides could go to war to secure the signature of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
