Liverpool target Naby Keita has a release clause which comes into effect next summer, according to Italian agent Giovanni Branchini.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Naby Keita this summer following his impressive displays for RB Leipzig last term.

However, the Reds have found the transfer door slammed well and truly in their face by the German club.

Leipzig's sporting director Ralf Rangnick insisted last week none of their key players would be leaving the Red Bull Arena.

However, Italian super agent Giovanni Branchini has handed Anfield supporters some hope by revealing Keita does have a release clause.

It will reportedly come into effect next summer and Branchini is confident the Guinea international will favour a move to Liverpool.

"I really like him [Keita] he's similar to [N'Golo] Kante but has better technical skills," Branchini told Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He has a release clause that can be activated from next summer.

"RB Leipzig don’t want to sell him now but if he leaves he will be joining Liverpool.”

Brancini's claims conflict with what Leipzig director Rangnick has been saying in recent weeks, with the German stressing claims of a release clause are untrue.

"There are no players in our squad who have an exit clause," he said.

“I will repeat it one more time, we will not sell any of our key players.

"There are a lot of reports about there being a certain figure where we could be open to a sale, but they are all false."
