Liverpool have been given the green light by Monaco to begins talks over a deal to sign Thomas Lemar, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side submitted two offers for the France international in the summer, and the midfielder was keen to join Anfield. Monaco, however, refused to sell and the 22-year-old ended up staying with the Ligue 1 champions.

But Mundo Deportivo now report that Liverpool ‘already have the OK’ from Monaco’ to start negotiations over a potential transfer in January.

And as long as Liverpool meet Monaco’s asking price, which is between €70 million and €80m (£62m – £71m), Klopp would be able to sign Lemar.

But Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal for Lemar due to Arsene Wenger’s strong interest in the midfielder.
